Navigational mistakes on the job

I recently experienced a near miss due to a communication lapse during a critical maneuver. As Navigation Officers, we must ensure that every crew member understands the importance of accurate positioning and relay protocols. It’s crucial that we review our safety measures regularly to prevent such errors in the future.

Communication is key! I’ve found using a shared digital chart really helps everyone stay on the same page during maneuvers. Do you currently have any specific tools you recommend for better positioning?

I totally get where you’re coming from with the communication issues. In my experience, we had a game-changer with a brief positional huddle before any critical maneuvers. It created a shared understanding and really helped cut down on those near misses.
