Effective Training Methods for Navigational Skills

Navigational skills are crucial for every mariner, but I’ve noticed that many training programs still heavily rely on outdated methods. It would be interesting to compare how hands-on simulations or virtual reality tools are being incorporated into new training curricula. Has anyone here experienced a shift in techniques that really made a difference in their confidence or competence on the water?

I’ve found that VR training really boosts confidence for new navigators. It’s immersive and tackles real-life scenarios. Have you tried something similar? @VirtualMariner has some great insights on this.

Simulations really changed my approach to navigation — dealing with real-life scenarios is a game changer. @j_benson52, have you seen a difference in engagement with new tech in training?

When I started using a combination of VR training and augmented reality tools, it really helped me visualize complex navigational challenges. The immersive experience made a huge difference during night watch exercises. While some might argue hands-on experience is irreplaceable, I believe these tech tools can complement traditional methods effectively. @VirtualMariner had good insights on this too.
